1846 - After start-up of the railway line Berlin - Wien, running through Ku¼nia Raciborska, right next to the railway station, a first cast iron plant called "Nadzieja" ("Hope") comes into existence. In the second half of the nineteenth century, a rolling mill and iron foundry is added.
1889 - Takeover of the factory by Wilhelm Hegenscheidt. During that time, the factory is making different building equipment and products for railways, among others bolts and axles for wheel sets.
1920 - Production of the first lathe for machining of heavy wheel sets.
1930 - Takeover of the company by Adolfa Schondorff.
1946 - The present Machine Tool Factory (Fabryka Obrabiarek) "RAFAMET" comes into being. For the next few years, the factory acts under the name "RAFO". With time, the factory takes up production of a second family of machine tools - heavy-duty universal vertical turning and boring mills, destined for different users in machine-building industry, power industry, shipbuilding industry, metallurgical industry, air industry and armaments industry. In the next years the production range is extended by large-size horizontal lathes, portal milling machines and special-purpose machine tools.
1964 - Upon the principle of economic experiment, "RAFAMET", as one of the first Polish companies, obtains a right to independent export and import activities, without mediation of Foreign Trade Agencies.
1992 - Transformation the state-owned enterprise "RAFAMET" into a joint-stock company.
1996 - Sectioning off the founding activity from the organizational structure of RAFAMET S.A. The "RAFAMET" Foundry (Zespó³ Odlewni "RAFAMET" sp. z o.o.) comes into existence.
1996 - The shares of the Machine Tool Factory RAFAMET S.A., as the shares of the first company in Poland, are admitted to be traded on the public regulated market CeTO S.A.
2002 - The Industrial Development Agency joint-stock company (Agencja Rozwoju Przemys³u S.A.) with a seat in Warsaw takes possession of the 46.72% packet of the Company’s shares and up until now remains the biggest shareholder of the Company.
